Layers of Hubris and Excess
The Seven Deadly Sins of American Foreign Policy
Created in 2006, The Seven Deadly Sins of American Foreign Policy is a seminal work that explores the hubris and excess of American government. Massive in size, these 60” x 30” monoprints each have two layers: one digitally printed on raw silk, and the other stencil printed on silk organza. In Kaulitz’s own words: [statement]:
I have come to believe… that the United States is dangerously close to forfeiting the democratic republic it aspired towards in favor of a model of international corporate fascism. … Under the layers of public relations, flag waving and media manipulation I am seeing the lies, injustices and the murder of war continue to erode the base on which they stand. The freedom of which they speak lies buried under the layers of that deceit.
